Notifications

This guide covers everything you need to know about notifications in Vitae: where to find them, how to clear them, and how to turn specific alerts on or off. There is no pop-out bell in the top bar — all notifications live on a dedicated page you reach from the sidebar.

How do I open my notifications?

Recruiter / agency app

  1. In the left sidebar, look for the Notifications item (bell icon) under the Account section.
  2. Click it to open the full Notifications page, which lists every alert in a table with columns for Title, Message, Category, Status, and Date.

Client portal

  1. In the client portal sidebar, click Notifications (bell icon).
  2. The page opens with the heading “Updates from your recruiting team and anything that needs your attention.”

How do I mark a notification as read?

One at a time (recruiter app)

  1. Open Notifications from the sidebar.
  2. Find the notification in the table. Its Status column shows Unread.
  3. Click the three-dot actions menu at the end of the row and select Mark as Read.
  4. A “Notification marked as read” confirmation appears and the status changes to Read.

Tip: You can also just click the row. Clicking an unread row marks it as read automatically and, if the notification contains a link, takes you straight to the relevant page.

All at once (recruiter app)

  1. On the Notifications page, click the Mark All as Read button in the top-right corner of the table.
  2. A “All notifications marked as read” confirmation appears and all unread items update to Read.

One at a time (client portal)

  1. Open Notifications from the client portal sidebar.
  2. Unread items show a Mark as read button inline. Click it to clear the alert.
  3. When nothing is left unread you will see “You’re all caught up” with the note “Nothing new since you last looked. Nice.”

All at once (client portal)

  1. Click Mark all as read in the top-right corner of the notifications page.
  2. The button is greyed out when there is nothing left to clear.

How do I archive a notification?

  1. Open Notifications from the sidebar (recruiter app).
  2. Click the three-dot actions menu on any row that is not already archived.
  3. Select Archive. A “Notification archived” confirmation appears and the status changes to Archived.

How do I filter notifications by status?

Recruiter app

  1. On the Notifications page, find the Status filter above the table.
  2. Click the dropdown and choose Unread, Read, or Archived to narrow the list.
  3. Clear the filter to see all notifications again.

Client portal

  1. On the client portal Notifications page, use the tabs just below the heading.
  2. Click all to see every notification, or unread to see only those you have not yet read. Each tab shows a count badge so you can see how many are waiting.

How do I open a linked notification?

Some notifications point to a specific page — for example, a new application or a scheduled interview.

  • Recruiter app: Click the three-dot actions menu and select Open Link. This option only appears when the notification has a destination attached.
  • Client portal: Click the Open link that appears inline on the notification item.

How do I change which notifications I receive?

  1. Click your avatar in the top-right corner and select Account settings.

  2. In the settings sidebar, scroll to the Account section and click Notifications (bell icon). This takes you to the notification preferences page.

  3. You will see three rows of preferences:

    EventWhat it covers
Application receivedWhen we receive an application you submit
Interview scheduledWhen you pick an interview time
Interview submittedWhen you submit a video interview
  4. Each row has two toggles:

    • Email — send an email alert for this event.
    • In-app — show an in-app notification for this event.
  5. Flip any toggle on or off. Changes are saved automatically.

Tip: If the page shows “Failed to load notification preferences. Refresh to try again.” just reload the page and your preferences will load correctly.

How do I turn the notification sound on or off?

  1. Go to Account settings and open the Appearance page from the settings sidebar.
  2. Scroll to the Notifications section (“Control whether unread realtime notifications play a sound.”).
  3. Click Sound on to play a short tone for new alerts, or Sound off to keep things silent. Only one option can be active at a time.
